The Langar initiative described is a humanitarian effort rooted in the principle of charity and compassion, inspired by the teachings of Syedna Ghaus Ul Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Gilani (Radhi Allahu Anha), who emphasized the significance of feeding the poor as one of the greatest forms of worship, or Ibadah. This endeavor is not just about providing food; it is a direct response to the overwhelming need for nourishment in communities where hunger is a daily struggle.
The initiative was founded with the purpose of alleviating hunger and ensuring that no one goes without food, especially during challenging times. Inspired by the Qaul of Syedna Ghaus Ul Azam (Radhi Allahu Anha), the project sought to act on the deep wisdom that feeding the poor and the hungry is a powerful way to serve others.
The Langar operates three times a week, providing meals to up to 1,000 people weekly. The meals are distributed to individuals who are most in need, ensuring that communities facing poverty, hunger, and distress are supported. This includes the students at the Madrassa, as well as individuals in nearby government hospitals.
The Langar’s impact goes far beyond simply feeding people. It has become a lifeline for individuals in places where food scarcity is a pressing concern. This provides a sense of hope and compassion to those in distressing circumstances, such as patients fighting for their lives in hospitals, and their families, who are often stranded and unable to care for their basic needs.
The first Langar (alms house) was inaugurated in the year 2023 on the 6th of Rajab, in honor of Khaja Ghareeb Nawaz (Radhi Allahu Anha). This event marked the beginning of the Langar’s mission to feed those in need. The goal is to ensure we run daily breakfast and evening meals for atleast 500 people in need.
The motivation behind the langar services by the founder was after seeing the profound impact on the community by the services offered at Shaykh Abdul Qadar Jilani (ra) langar services, Khaja Nizamuddin (ra) langar services and the langar services run by the Gurudwaras and Pandals.
The first langar drive was so overwhelming that over 500 people were fed in the distribution, and the food ran out within two hours, highlighting the immense demand for such efforts.
We are praying wholeheartedly that we are empowered to run more and more langar drives as we move on so that no innocent soul is left hungry.
